Jose Mourinho has deflected questions over Juan Mata’s future, and refused to rule out the possibility of a swap deal with Manchester United involving Wayne Rooney.
Mata’s future has been the subject of much speculation over the summer, and although Mourinho previously rubbished suggestion of his sale, Willian’s arrival at Stamford Bridge has further clouded the Spaniard’s role with the Blues. When asked about what would happen if United wanted Mata in exchange
for Rooney, Mourinho responded: ‘That’s hypothetical, because they didn’t ask.
QUESTION
Mata for Rooney in a swap deal? Which club stands to gain more? Chelsea or Man United?

The hugely anticipated clash of the titans between Manchester United
and Chelsea turned out to be a damp squib, as the game petered out
to a lackadaisical draw, both sides settling for a point each. Despite an
outstanding performance by Wayne Rooney, cheered on by both set of
supporters, the Old Trafford faithful were witness to the first blank
score-line here in 77 games, since United clinched the title against
Arsenal back in 2009. The solitary point though, sees Chelsea stay at
top of the Premier League table and leave Old Trafford with a share of
the spoils.
Manchester United:
David De Gea - 6 - Had very little to do but kept out Chelsea's long
range efforts with relative ease.
Phil Jones - 6 - Fell awkwardly over Ashley Cole, but recovered. Did
little wrong but a better bet at centre half.
Rio Ferdinand - 6 - Chelsea hardly troubled him, allowing him to
launch forward on occasion.
Nemanja Vidic - 8 - Made a string of key interceptions, cleverly
reading the game with utmost ease.
Patrice Evra - 7 - Galloped forward down the left flank at times, quite
solid in defence.
Tom Cleverley - 6 - Tidy in possession, but could do more. Missed a
decent opportunity.
Michael Carrick - 7 - Indispensable in United's midfield, could have
shown more ambition.
Antonio Valencia - 6 - Escaped luckily for a late challenge, didn't do
enough in attack. Crossing in particular was poor despite getting in
some excellent positions.
Wayne Rooney - 8 - Looked the most inventive player, excellent
passing and good work-rate.
Danny Welbeck - 6 - Wasn't effective in attack through left flank,
spurned a couple of very decent half-chances chances.
Robin van Persie - 7 - Dangerous in bits and pieces, got limited
chances.
Substitutes:
Ryan Giggs (78') - 6 - Couldn't create much of an impact in cameo
down the left flank.
Ashley Young (67') - 6 - Didn't add much, though crossing was slightly
better than Valencia.
Chelsea:
Petr Cech - 6 - Alert when required, but was rarely needed in-spite of
United's possession. Produced the one late save from distance to deny
Rooney.
Branislav Ivanovic - 7 - Did sufficiently well defensively and got
forward along the right to cause problems.
Ashley Cole - 6 - Troubled by Valencia, caught out of position at times
and booked for a cynical foul on Van Persie.
Gary Cahill - 7 - Had a powerful shot saved by De Gea, kept United's
attack under control.
John Terry - 8 - excellent reader of the game, effectively cancelled out
Van Persie.
Ramires - 4 - Unable to influence proceedings much, was kept busy by
United's attack, and his passing especially in the first half was woeful.
Frank Lampard - 6 - Unable to impose himself, his creativity was
stifled, perhaps slightly fortunate not to have given away penalty.
Oscar - 8 - Clearly Chelsea's best player on display, his creative play
did give United a few moments of concern.
Kevin De Bruyne - 5 - Did little of note other than earn a booking for a
wild tackle on Van Persie that left the young Belgian with a bruised lip.
Eden Hazard - 6 - Flitted in and out of the game but never really
looked like causing United much of a concern.
Andre Schurrle - 5 - Oddly chosen as the lone striker, cut a lonely and
anonymous figure.
Substitutes:
Cesar Azpilicueta (90') - NA - Introduced too late in the game to make
an impact.
John Obi Mikel (87') - NA - Again had little time to influence
proceedings.
Fernando Torres (60') - 5 - Looked determined but threat petered out
as soon as he approached the attacking third.

I still dont know why Morinho keep on benching Nigerian duo Moses and Mikel. Is it because of Emenalo factor or they are not good for EPL matches again? Remires shouldn't have started that game yesterday considering the fact that he had played on Sunday and Wednesday against Hull and Villa. He ought to have been rested and chance should have been given to Essien or Mikel even van ginkel. It seems Jose has made up is mind to keep these African stars on bench just because of his favouritsm for South Americans players.
