Kodak's new entry in the smartphone market, the Ektra was launched in European countries in December, but we've just learned the device will be introduced in North America as well.
The company announced Kodak Ektra will be available for pre-order in the United States and Canada in April for $549. Kodak also confirmed the smartphone will be optimized to work on GSM networks including AT&T and T-Mobile.
As some of you might already know, the the heart of the Kodak Ektra is a 21-megapixel camera that features f/2.0 aperture, OIS (optical image stabilization), dual-LED flash and fast focus. In the front, the smartphone packs a 13-megapixel secondary camera with PDAF (phased detection autofocus) and f/2.2 aperture.
Among the many advanced features of the main camera, Kodak mentions the SLR-style Scene Selection Dial, which allows users to make adjustments in real time using a wide range of settings such as HDR, landscape, portrait, macro, sport, nigh-time, panorama and bokeh.
The camera also features Smart Auto mode, which auto-selects optimized conditions for photos. Pro photographers can switch to Manual mode that allows them to mingle with even more advanced features like exposure, ISO, focus, white balance and shutter speed.
Kodak Ektra runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow and packs a 2.3GHz deca-core Helio X20 processor paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB expandable memory. The Ektra is powered by a 3,000 mAh battery with USB 3.0 Type-C fast charger.
