Apple is encroaching on Samsung's back yard as it is working on opening its very first Apple Store in South Korea. Apple has released a statement this morning that confirms that it will build the store in Seoul, which is Samsung's hometown. Apple has already started posting job notices for the store and the Apple corporate website lists 15 such openings.
Local news agency Yonhap says that construction is taking place in a southern district of Seoul. The Store should be open for business this coming November, according to the same report. Currently, South Korean consumers can buy the iPhone through re-sellers and from Apple's online store.
"We're excited about opening our first Apple Store in Korea, one of the world's economic centers and a leader in telecommunication and technology, with a vibrant K-culture. We're now hiring the team that will offer our customers in Seoul the service, education and entertainment that is loved by Apple customers around the world."-Apple
Reportedly, Apple considered other locations like Gangnam and Garosu-gil. The latter is a tree-lined street full of bars, restaurants, cafes and bookstores. Despite the off-beat atmosphere, Apple decided to build its first South Korean Apple Store in Seoul, which is the capital of the country.
