According to reports from Mirror Football, Arsenal have surged ahead of Chelsea in the race to sign Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata.
The Spain international has emerged as one of the summer transfer window’s hottest commodities, despite already signing for the El Clasico giants.
Indeed, Real Madrid activated a £23million buyback clause earlier this summer to re-sign the Spain international from Juventus, where he’d won back-to-back Serie A titles.
But Los Blancos are open to selling the 23-year-old on at a significant profit and have slapped Morata with a staggering £65million price-tag – according to Mirror Football.
And the British newspaper further claim that Arsenal have now surged ahead of Premier League title rivals Chelsea in the race to sign the Euro 2016 assassin, who bagged three goals at the tournament in France.
That is because Morata wants to play Champions League football next season, but the Blues haven’t even qualified for the Europa League following an abysmal 2015/16 campaign in west London.
